Kinsmen of the Senate President, God’swill Akpabio have demanded that Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan be recalled from the senate.
Akpabio’s kinsmen under the auspices of Afe Annang, the socio-cultural group of the Annang people said they were not satisfied with the suspension of Akpoti-Uduaghan from the senate alone.
Speaking during a press conference on Friday at the Afe Annang secretariat in Abak Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, the Itai Afe Annang, His Majesty, Obong Blaise Awakama called on the people of Kogi Central to recall Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, saying she was not fit to be in the senate.
“We are not satisfied with only suspension; I think her constituency should recall her and she should be advised properly. I don’t think that type of conduct is what any Nigerian, let alone a woman, should carry to the senate.
“It is not enough to be suspended. I think her constituency should recall her and be given proper advice and orientation or be replaced by some other person,” he stated.
According to the group, they were proud of God’swill Akpabio as their representative in the senate and would not allow him to be defamed without a fight.
“Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio represents the people of Annang Nation, Ikot Ekpene, Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State. He represents the entire Nation/people of Nigeria, as the Senate President.
“We are proud of and supportive of him. No female senator should be used as a front to defame him. If there is an organiszed political plot/controversy to ease him out of office, we shall not sit and cannot sit idly by, to see the adversaries succeed.
“Annang nation has sacrificed and contributed a lot to our dear Nation Nigeria and her son and the Senate President deserves to be treated with honour and decorum. He must be so treated.
“A false claim of sexual harassment, which has become a matter of litigation, should not and can’t be used as an instrument of political harassment, by political antagonists,” they stated.
