The lawmaker representing Essien Udim State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Prince Ukpong Akpabio has donated boreholes and generators to Ukana.

It was learnt that the donation of the borehole to the community was part of Akpabio’s promise to his constituents once elected to office.

A similar gesture also went to Ukana Ikot Akpabin community which got its borehole, courtesy of the lawmaker complete with generator sets to power the facilities for constant water supplies.

At the inauguration/handing over ceremony held yesterday (Wednesday), at the civic centre complex in Ikot Udo Idem village, Prince Akpabio emphasized that, the gesture was in fulfilment of his promise to the people of Ukana Akpautong complementary to the commissioning of an ultramodern civic centre by former federal lawmaker Hon. Nsikak Ekong earlier this year.

Akpabio said the commissioning was to show his commitment to assisting his constituents and align with Governor Umo Eno’s rural development initiative to enhance the quality of life of the grassroots populations.

Also, the spokesperson for the chiefs and village head of Ikot Edet, Obong Samuel Anthony Ntuk, Chairman of the Akpautong group of villages, Mr Mfon Philemon, and the village Head of Ikot Akpan Ntia, Chief Ernest Ekpo described Otuekong Prince Akpabio as a promise keeper and a pillar of Akpautong community.

Leaders and stakeholders from the Ward including the Ward Leader of Ukana West ll, Hon. Aniekan Akpan a.k.a Authority; former lawmaker, Rt. Hon. Nse Ntuen; the PDP Ward Chairman, Elder David Ime;  Lady Iniobong Otong, Mrs. Doris Usen, a member of the Essien Udim Transition Committee, and Comrade Raymond Ekpe, the PDP Chapter Youth Leader, also expressed their gratitude and support for Prince Akpabio, recognizing him as a quintessential leader with excellent scorecard.

As the first anniversary celebrations continue, Prince Akpabio plans to inaugurate housing projects for a widow in Ikot Ibanga and a youth in Ikot Essien, showcasing his dedication to supporting Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Compassionate Homes Initiative.

The grand finale of the anniversary celebration is scheduled for June 16 and will feature a thanksgiving service, opening of his Constituency Office in Ukana Uwa, ward briefing and empowerment activities in Ukana Ikot Ngwo community to underscore his commitment to serving the people of Essien Udim.
