The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Akwa Ibom State has declared its support for the party’s presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, saying Nigeria needs purposeful leadership to overcome its economic, security and social challenges.

The party stated this in a welcome message ahead of the APM South-South Town Hall Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, at Ibom Hall, IBB Way, Uyo, the state capital.

In the statement signed by Tom FredFish, coordinator of all APM contestants in Akwa Ibom State, the party described Makinde as a visionary leader and pragmatic reformer capable of driving national renewal.

It said Nigeria needed leadership that would restore public confidence, strengthen national institutions and place citizens’ welfare at the centre of governance.

The Akwa Ibom chapter expressed confidence that the Makinde-Daura presidential ticket could steer the country towards economic prosperity, social justice, national unity and inclusive development.

According to the party, effective governance must translate into tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary Nigerians through job creation, affordable education and healthcare, food security, industrial growth, infrastructure development and youth empowerment.

It added that protecting lives and property must remain a priority for any administration seeking to restore stability and public trust.

The party stressed that resetting Nigeria would require more than political promises, arguing that integrity, competence, accountability, fiscal discipline and the determination to implement meaningful reforms were essential to achieving measurable results.

It described the forthcoming town hall meeting as an opportunity for party leaders, candidates, stakeholders and members of the public to engage Makinde on his vision for national development and the country’s future.

As host, the Akwa Ibom chapter said it was prepared to welcome APM leaders, candidates contesting the 2027 general elections across the South-South geopolitical zone, civil society representatives, professionals, youths, women and other stakeholders.

The party also urged its members and supporters across the state to demonstrate unity, discipline and commitment to its national vision while participating constructively in the democratic process.

It maintained that Nigeria had the human and material resources to overcome its challenges and reclaim its position as a leading African nation, provided the country embraced responsible governance and people-centred policies.

The party consequently invited members of the public to attend the town hall meeting and contribute to discussions on Nigeria’s future.

The event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Ibom Hall, IBB Way, Uyo.

The party’s message concludes with the slogan, “Come, Let’s Reset Nigeria with Makinde and Daura,” and the rallying call, “APM, Nigeria First!”
