Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has urged Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general election.

Makinde made the appeal in a video shared on his social media accounts on Tuesday, where he displayed his PVC and encouraged eligible voters to obtain theirs before the polls.

In a statement accompanying the video, the governor said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had confirmed that PVC collection would begin on 9 October 2026.

“INEC has confirmed that Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection commences on 9 October 2026. Please get your PVC so that you can participate in the 2027 election,” he said.

In the video, Makinde described the PVC as a symbol of citizens’ power to choose their leaders through the ballot.

“Fellow Nigerians, INEC has set 12 December as the date for people to start collecting their Permanent Voter Cards.

“This is your power. Regardless of who you intend to vote for, go out and collect your PVC so that you can use it wisely,” he said.

Makinde urged Nigerians to participate actively in the electoral process, irrespective of their preferred candidates.

The governor is contesting the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

He emerged as the party’s presidential candidate in May 2026 and has since begun activities aimed at strengthening his presidential campaign.

On Tuesday, his campaign organisation inaugurated its National Campaign Management Committee in Abuja, with a target of securing between 41 million and 68 million votes in the 2027 election.

Makinde, who was first elected governor of Oyo State in 2019 and re-elected in 2023, is seeking to succeed President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
