Police warn against violence at A’Ibom APC primaries
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has warned political thugs, troublemakers and anyone plotting to disrupt today’s All Progressives Congress primaries in the state to abandon such plans or face arrest and prosecution.
The command said it had deployed tactical teams, intelligence operatives, patrol units and other security personnel across designated venues to ensure a peaceful, credible and hitch-free exercise.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has warned political thugs, troublemakers and anyone plotting to disrupt today’s All Progressives Congress primaries in the state to abandon such plans or face arrest and prosecution.
The command said it had deployed tactical teams, intelligence operatives, patrol units and other security personnel across designated venues to ensure a peaceful, credible and hitch-free exercise.
In a statement on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, said the Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, had ordered all officers deployed for the primaries to remain professional, neutral, and firm in the face of any attempt to breach public peace.
The command specifically cautioned individuals and groups against violence, intimidation, snatching of election materials, sponsoring thugs or engaging in any criminal activity capable of undermining the exercise.
It also urged parents, political leaders and sponsors of violence to restrain their children, supporters and associates from causing unrest, stressing that offenders would be arrested, investigated and prosecuted regardless of status or political affiliation.
The police further declared that Akwa Ibom would not be allowed to become a breeding ground for political violence, thuggery or intimidation, warning that anyone caught disrupting law and order would be dealt with decisively in accordance with the law.
Residents were advised to go about their lawful activities without fear, while remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious activity or security threats to the nearest police formation.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and ensuring peace before, during and after the party primaries.
