Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has been praised for his commitment to human capital development and infrastructural growth in the state.
The Paramount Ruler of Ogboinbiri Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, His Royal Highness Okosughe Benson Eseimokumo, Ogboin XII, gave the commendation during an interaction with journalists in Yenagoa at the weekend.
Eseimokumo highlighted the governor’s achievements in road construction across the three senatorial districts, improvement of school infrastructure, prompt payment of salaries and gratuities, enhanced security, and the promotion of inclusive governance.
He said the ongoing senatorial road projects, when completed, would attract investors, reduce rural-urban migration, curb crime, and ease communal tensions, thereby accelerating development in the state.
The monarch also applauded the cordial working relationship between Governor Diri and his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, noting the recent award of the Oporoma–Ondewari and Angiama–Eniwari road projects. He said Bayelsa had not witnessed such progress since its creation in 1996.
Eseimokumo urged Bayelsans—especially Ogboinbiri residents—to continue supporting the Prosperity Administration to ensure the delivery of more democratic dividends.
He also appealed to the governor to award the construction of the Amassoma–Ebeni–Ogboinbiri Road, noting that only the Isampou canal would require a culvert of less than 30 metres.
He prayed for God’s guidance, good health, and strength for the governor and his deputy to finish strong in their mandate.
