UNIUYO gets new registrar, Blossom Okorie

The University of Uyo has appointed Mrs Blossom Ebere Okorie as the new Registrar.

Okorie who was until her appointment, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations of the institution, had served as Acting Registrar.

Governing Council Chairman of the University of Uyo, Bernadette Nwachukwu who announced the appointment of Okorie as the 8th substantive Registrar, said the new registrar would assume duties on May 1, 2023.

In a press release signed by the Acting Registrar and Secretary to Senate, Mr Linus Okoko in Uyo, the new registrar is an experienced administrator who has served as either secretary, member and chairperson in several committees and panels of the university.

“The 9th Governing Council of the University of Uyo led by its Chairman, Barr. Bernadette Nwachukwu has announced the appointment of the 8th substantive Registrar, Mrs. Blossom Ebere Okorie, who before her appointment was the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations of the University.

“This astute administrator with track record of commitment and unbroken loyalty to the University of Uyo has climbed the ladder of the administrative cadre and garnered experience as reflected on all the sensitive positions she was privileged to hold in the University,” the release stated.

Okorie had served as Assistant Registrar and Faculty Officer in Faculty of Pharmacy; Senior Assistant Registrar and Faculty Officer in Faculty of Agriculture; Senior Assistant Registrar and Faculty Officer in Faculty of Arts; Principal Assistant Registrar and Head of Academic Staff Establishment, Directorate of Human Resources; Deputy Registrar and Secretary, College of Health Sciences, and the Deputy Registrar and Head of Unit, Directorate of Information and Public Relations.

She is a member of the following professional bodies: Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA), member, Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Chartered and a Fellow of Institute of Cooperate Administration.

Okorie is married to Dr. Ebere James Okorie, and they have loving children and grandchildren.
