2023: PDP chief optimistic of party’s victory at centre, A’Ibom

Group Managing Director of Desicon Group, Akan Udofia is optimistic that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will be victorious at the 2023 presidential and governorship elections.

Udofia, who hopes to contest for the governorship election in Akwa Ibom State, said: “Of course, we are going to take 2023. PDP is getting to power in 2023 by the grace of God. I know God has done it for us before and God has continued to do it for Akwa Ibom State.”

The PDP chieftain, who said this on Wednesday in Uyo, praised the developmental strides of the state governor, Udom Emmanuel, especially on his acquisition of 10 additional aircraft for Ibom Air.

Udofia, however, promised to run a people-oriented government if given the chance in 2023. He also assured a better future for the children, youths, and elders.

He said: “The people, of course, will be my focus. It’s going to be about prosperity like I have often said. We are going to continue with the laudable programmes of His Excellency, Udom Emmanuel.

“We pray today that God should make his Completion Agenda come to fruition. And then, we will take it from there and run with it. He has laid a good foundation. Now, we are going to come and complement what he has done.

“It is God’s project, let’s continue to pray, let’s continue to be steadfast. Let’s continue to pray that His Excellency, Governor Emmanuel, will finish well. But for the future, the future is very bright. God has never forgotten Akwa Ibom, God has never forgotten us.”

Reacting to speculations that his governorship ambition was hinged on luck, Udofia said he was committed to the process as he was never known to try out on luck in his life.

He stated that he has the proven experience to change Akwa Ibom economic fortunes, noting that the 32 years of experience of running a business he inherited from his family with about 15 member staff and grew it to an empire of 4,700 workers was a testament of his ability.

“What am I trying? I’ve never tried anything in my life. I’m about success, I’m about prosperity, I have never tried. I go out and I win. I’m a winner. Now, I want to win with all of you. There’s nothing about trying. There’s nothing to try.

“I’ve come to continue the good works Governor Udom Emmanuel is doing. I intend to continue from where he stops. His Excellency has done exceedingly well, so what are you talking about trying? There’s nothing to try,” he stated.

He emphasised that he was not bothered about other co-contestants, noting, “I am not bothered about other contestants. But I want to beg each one of you not to be fooled. Don’t let anyone fool you. Anyone who has not done it before, don’t believe him.

“I am a man who has done it for 32 years; I have been succeeding for 32 years. I am a pride of Akwa Ibom state. I’ve done it right from my youthful days. And so, this time, I’m not doing it for myself. I’m doing it for the future of our children. I’m doing it for the next generation. So, let’s not talk about me, let’s talk about the next generation,” he added.
