Yuletide: Ogun corps deploys 1,000 officers to stem insecurity

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has deployed, at least, one thousand officers and men ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations across the length and breadth of the state.

This is contained in the press statement issued from the Office of the State Commander of the corps, Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo through the Office of the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, on Sunday.

The statement added: “Based on multiple Intelligence at our disposal and coupled with records of black spots in various communities in the Gateway State, the agency will embark on aggressive clamp down to prevent criminally-minded people from thwarting peaceful coexistence in the state.

“Particular attention is paid to cult boys terrorizing communities with guns and working on getting more rifles for use during the electioneering period.

“We assure the law-abiding citizens in the state that the agency will ensure that arms and ammunition in circulation that are used to perpetrate one crime or the others are mopped up effective from Sunday 18th December 2022 through January, 10th. 2023,” Ganzallo said.

The commander further enjoined the body of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state to take their time on various pulpits to instruct their followers to celebrate moderately and to ensure they follow all security and safety guidelines for safer and secure communities during the seasons.

Ganzallo said that the six Zonal and twenty-one Area Commands of the agency had been instructed to deploy the officers of the Corps to strategic places and that their Intelligence Operatives should be distributed properly to negate any form of crimes and criminalities before, during and after the yuletide seasons, while he stressed that no indigene or visitor should experience any form of crime with kidnapping not excluded.

He advised that commuters, motorbike riders etc limit their speed and exercise caution while coming in and out of the State.

The commander So-Safe, therefore, wishes all good people of the State, visitors, officers and Men of the corps, the Corps Marshals, and Honourable Members of the Corps Officers’ Mess happy Christmas and New year in advance.
