The Young Progressives Party, (YPP) governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections in Akwa Ibom State, Senator Bassey Akpan has promised to generate 500,000 jobs for the citizens if voted into power.

Akpan also pledged to inject a N50 billion prosperity trust fund into the economy to kick-start entrepreneurship and job creation opportunities for youths in the state.

Speaking in Ifa Ikot Akpan, Uyo at the weekend during the official flag-off of the governorship and house of assembly campaigns, the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East senatorial district said the 500,000 jobs creation would span two years.

He explained that his five-point economic and development blueprint would focus on agriculture, rural development, education, health, economic prosperity and infrastructure, security, tourism, administrative reforms and completion of projects.

“Our entire blueprint covers three segments- short-, medium and long-term impacts all woven into sustainable and implementable trajectories.

“As a first step plans have been concluded to launch in the first three months of our assuming office, the first phase of the N50 billion prosperity trust fund.

“Our approach will be different because our situation is peculiar. We shall prioritize our investments in life-touching projects and programmes to benefit the vast majority of people,” he stated.

In his address, the State Chairman of the YPP, Apostle Nyenime Andy, assured Akwa Ibom people that with the YPP in power, the challenges of the people will be a thing of the past.

“YPP is coming to take over Akwa Ibom come 2023. Over the years Senator Bassey Albert, our governorship candidate has demonstrated leadership competence. He has developed people; he has gathered experience in leadership over the years. He will build Ibaka Deep Seaport, he will not build skyscrapers that have no use,” Andy assured.
