We’re advocacy driven not cult group – NAS

The National Association of Seadogs, (NAS) has dismissed the allegations that the association was a cult group, to be false and untrue.
The Akwa Ibom Capoon Sancta Riviera Deck of NAS, Mr Anthony Akan, said this during the NAS Annual Feast of Barracuda (FoB), in Uyo on Saturday.
Akan said that the association was well registered with the Federal Government and does not have any link with cultism, stressing that it was an advocacy group aim at defending the right of the less privileged in the society.
He said that the association was made of disciplined men.
According to him, the requisite requirement for membership into the organisation was the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.
“The National Association of Seadogs is not a cult group, but a well-registered organisation with the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“NAS is an international charitable and humanitarian organisation comprising of like-minded, intellectual, stimulated and disciplined men, who are committed to fighting the ills of the society.
“Such societal ills comprise of corruption, nepotism, and embezzlement of government funds.
“It should be noted that the organisation does not operate in schools having pulled out of the Universities in 1984 and the requisite requirements for membership are the NYSC certificate,” Akan said.
The NAS Capoon National President, Mr Abiola Owoaje has commended the members for their unrelenting faith in the association.
Owoaje who was represented by Area Mate 4 of NAS, Mr Herbert Nwaka, explained that the association aimed to touch lives and make life meaningful for people in the society.
Owoaje assured that the organisation will continue to assemble resources to help in the advancement of society.
He, however, said that the feast was symbolic as it allows interacting with members and non-members to educate them on national and social issues.
