Two shot dead in A’Ibom LGA

Two persons were shot dead in Etim Ekpo local government area, Akwa Ibom State during the Saturday Presidential elections.

However, Senator Godswill Akpabio who is the Senatorial candidate of Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district, and from the LGA won the council area for the APC Presidential candidate.

The APC in the local government area with 5,182 votes to beat the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which had 4,733 and Labour Party which had 278.

Speaking on the security situation in the area, Returning Officer for Etim Ekpo, Prof. Felicia Ebuh said two persons were shot dead, while two others who sustained injuries during the crisis have been hospitalised.

Prof Ebuh stated that there were gun shots as early as 8am in the area which scared away the INEC staff, adding that elections did not hold in ward 6, and two units in ward 7 and 5.

“We had issues yesterday. As early as 8am, there was gun shots and INEC Staff had to run away. Two people shot dead and two hospitalised. Election did not hold in ward 6, and two units in ward 7 and 5,” she said.
