Top JAMB scorer Owoeye receives ₦1m scholarship

The overall best candidate in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, Daniella Owoeye Jesudunsin, has been awarded ₦1 million scholarship in recognition of her outstanding performance in the examination.
Owoeye announced the gesture in a Facebook post on Wednesday, expressing appreciation to members of the Ekiti Parapo in Indiana, United States, who funded the scholarship, as well as to family members and other well-wishers who celebrated her achievement.

Owoeye announced the gesture in a Facebook post on Wednesday, expressing appreciation to members of the Ekiti Parapo in Indiana, United States, who funded the scholarship, as well as to family members and other well-wishers who celebrated her achievement.
She described the occasion as memorable, noting that she was overwhelmed by the love and support she received. She particularly thanked the Ekiti Parapo in Indiana for their generosity and encouragement, as well as the Obaleo of Erinmope-Ekiti, Oba Dr Sunday Aikuirawo Aniyi Amoyimade Atayese I; the President of Ekiti Parapo, Hon. Awoniyi; her parents; and other guests who attended the celebration.
“Your prayers, encouragement, gifts and expressions of love made the celebration truly memorable,” Owoeye said, adding that she prayed for blessings and good health for all who had supported her.
Owoeye, an indigene of Erinmope-Ekiti in Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State, sat the examination in Ogun State, emerged as the highest scorer in the 2026 UTME with an aggregate score of 372 out of 400.
The 16-year-old scored 98 in English Language, 98 in Chemistry, 94 in Physics and 82 in Biology, and is seeking admission to study Medicine and Surgery at the University of Lagos.
Owoeye attributed her success to early preparation, consistency and smart studying rather than long hours of reading.
According to her, she relied heavily on past questions, computer-based test applications, online tutorials and study groups, while identifying and working on her weak areas throughout her preparation.
