Sports, education, pivot individuals’ development

Brig.-Gen. Oluremi Obolo, Commander of 16 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Delta Safe has said that sport and education are two pillars that shape well-rounded individuals. The classroom moulds the mind, sports spirit, physical fitness, resilience, teamwork, and leadership.

The Brigade Commander, Special Guest of Honour, stated this while declaring the 2nd annual inter-house competition organized by Command Science Secondary School Ebedebiri Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

Obolo noted that the competition was a testament to the Nigerian Army’s commitment to holistic education where academic prowls are complimented with physical fitness, discipline and sportsmanship.

While delivering his welcome remarks, the Chief Host, the Acting Director of 6 Division Nigerian Army Educational Services Lt Col PG Abal stated that the competition was a celebration of discipline, teamwork, perseverance and excellence, values that are fundamental to both academic and military success.

He also stated that supporting activities play a crucial role in the holistic development of our students as they teach leadership, resilience and the ability to work under pressure, qualities that are essential in all work of life.

Furthermore, he appreciated the staff for their efforts in shaping the students, he also urged the officials to be fair as they officiate the competition while thanking the parents for the support.

The Commandant Command Science Secondary School Ebedebiri Lt Col Solomon Elegbede thanked the Special Guest of Honour, Commander 16 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Delta Safe Brigadier General Oluremi Obolo and other dignitaries for gracing the events as he wished them a safe journey back to their destinations.

The event witnesses the presence of His Royal Highness the Amananawie of Ebedebiri. Agadabiri Akpe, the Executive Secretary of State Universal Basic Education Board Hon. Victor Okubunanabo among others.
