The Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Council, Hon Target Segibo has urged the people of Kemein-Ama Community in Bomo Clan of the Local Government Area not to indulge themselves in actions and activities capable of undermining the existing peace and security in the area.
Reacting to the threat to security in that Community, Segibo noted that no responsible government would fold its hands and watch self-seeking few carry out plans, actions, and activities that would erode the peace, unity, and co-habitation of the people.
He warned that his administration is determined to collaborate with the relevant security agencies to ensure the security of property and lives of all people resident in the area frontally.
Segibo called on the people of the Kemein-Ama Community, particularly youths who are the most vulnerable not to take the laws into their hands in their quest to enthrone the Amananaowei of Kemein-Ama, emphasizing that several lives and properties have been lost in the past due to unlawful actions and activities of people.
The Council chairman ordered the people of Kemein-Ama Community who wish to hold factional meetings or engage in actions and activities that will lead to the election of the occupant to the stool of Amananaowei of Kemein-Ama Community under the threatening security situation to immediately rescind their plans, noting that the Local Government Council under his watch has already commenced a peaceful, transparent and un-bias process that will lead to the election of the Amananaowei of Kemein-Ama in line with existing laws and tradition of the people.
He, therefore, called on all factions of the Community to maintain the status quo and await the outcome of the Government’s action.
