Save me from cancer – A'Ibom athlete cries out

Mr. David Akpan, popularly known as “Injection”, a Performing Athlete, and a steward with the Akwa Ibom State Football Association (AKSFA), has cried out to well-meaning Nigerians to help save his life from a life-threatening ailment.

David Injection who had represented and won several medals for Akwa Ibom State in Powerlifting, Badminton, and Table tennis told this reporter on Friday, November 10, 2023, that Cancer of the Throat is on the brink of claiming his life if treatment is not commenced immediately.

He said, “I have played my part in the development of sports and governance in Akwa Ibom State. I have won 2 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals for Akwa Ibom State.

“I am the former Music Director of Akwa United Supporters Club. I am equally a Unit Coordinator for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Unit 11, Uyo Urban 1, and I have worked out my heart to the development of sports and politics in the state, and I should not die this way.

The 40-year-old David said apart from being a Person With Disability (PWD), he has been battling with cancer for eight years now, leaving him with a lumpy protrusion on his neck, making it strenuous for him to speak, feed, or sleep well.

He added: “I have sold all I have to treat myself, but, the funds seem not enough. I am calling on the Akwa Ibom State Government, Ministry of Youth Sports, Ministry of Health, and other well-meaning Akwa Ibomites and Nigerians to help make donations no matter how small to save my life,” he appealed.
