The Center for Human Rights and Accountability Network (CHRAN) has asked Gov. Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State to urgently work on the roads in Ikpa, Udoette, Itu, and Uyo Village.

According to CHRAN, most users of these roads are students at the University of Uyo, residents of the areas, commercial drivers, and motorists.

The organization added that these people have suffered untold hardships plying the roads, adding that journeys of 10 minutes take at least an hour or more.

The Center said this when it led members of the press on an advocacy visit to assess the deplorable state of these roads on Wednesday, 6th November 2024.

The Center’s Director, Otuekong Franklyn Isong stated while conducting newsmen around the failed portions of the roads that the tour was necessary to draw the attention of the state governor to the deplorable state of the roads that need urgent intervention.

The good governance advocacy tour is part of CHRAN’s core mandates of holding governments accountable to the people and deepening democracy in Nigeria.
