Police recover stolen items in Uyo, suspects at large

Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, on 7 August 2025, at around 5:30 am, raided an uncompleted building located on Plot 70, Unit ‘A’, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo.
DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, said upon the arrival of the police vehicles, the suspects fled the scene through the back door, abandoning a significant amount of suspected stolen property.
She added that no arrests were made at the time.
According to her, those items which had been recovered include three split-unit air conditioners; one Butterfly sewing machine; four and a half fathoms of wax materials; three door curtains; two Polo t-shirts, and one school bag.

Others are: four new pairs of men’s native attire (up and down) and a pair of trousers; one new black female gown; two white and orange jerseys; one teddy bear, and half a yard of plain material.
John added that the police are actively working to identify and trace the owners of the recovered items.
She noted that the public is urged to come forward. Any information that may assist in the investigation is welcome.
