Police nab vigilante for killing passer-by, 17 others for armed robbery

Police operatives attached to Ijora Division of the of the Lagos State Command, on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, around 2 pm arrested a member of vigilante, Lukman Rasak, ‘m’, 30, for shooting one Musa Yahaya, ‘m’, 28, on his chest at Ijora area of the state.
It was gathered that after the shooting, the victim was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said immediately the police were alerted, they raced to the place, arrested the suspect, and recovered his gun with some cartridges.
Adejobi said that in another development, policemen attached to Elemoro Division, on April 14 around 2 am, arrested 17 suspected armed robbers at their various hideouts within the area based on intelligence gathering.
He said: “The suspects are Oladapo Job, ‘m’, 22; Abdulraheem Sidibaba, ‘m’, 20; Abdulrasheed Adebayo, ‘m’, 20; Tajudeen Abdullahi, ‘m’, Agbaje Sunday, ‘m’, 21, and 12 others.
“Items recovered from them are: Three cut-to-size locally-made pistols and four live cartridges. The suspects are alleged to be the armed robbers terrorising and robbing residents and POS operators at Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State.
“They are giving useful information to the police on their various activities and/or operations in Lekki area.”
The PPRO said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that all the suspects be transferred to State CID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, for proper investigation and possible prosecution.
The police boss also affirmed that the command would be more proactive in its anti-crime strategies by taking the fights against criminals and hoodlums in the state to their hideouts.
