Police nab suspects for vandalism, robbery syndicate in A’Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested three individuals in connection with the persistent vandalism and theft of property belonging to the Akwa Ibom State Water Company.
DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, said the arrests, which happened on 18 and 21 August 2025, followed a thorough investigation based on credible information.
“On August 18, operatives responded to a tip regarding the theft of armoured cables from the Water Company’s on Brooks Street, Uyo.
“The police team quickly mobilised, leading to the apprehension of two suspects at the scene: Itoro Moses David and Patrick Effiom.
“Following their arrest, the suspects confessed to the crime and provided information that led to the subsequent arrest of a third individual on August 21. The third suspect, identified as Edidiong Edet Edet, is believed to be a notorious member of the criminal gang,” John said.
According to her, the stolen armoured cables had been recovered.
She added that the police were continuing their investigation, and that efforts were currently underway to arrest more individuals involved in the syndicate.
The suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation is complete.
