Police evacuate remains of Bolt driver shot dead in Yenagoa

Operatives of the Police Command in Bayelsa have evacuated the remains of a Bolt driver. He was shot dead on Friday morning at Samphino junction in Yenagoa.
The lifeless body was discovered early Friday morning. It was inside the vehicle at the Samphino Road junction. This location is in the Kpansia suburb of Yenagoa. The driver was middle-aged and has yet to be identified.
Residents who discovered the crime scene raised the alarm. This prompted a swift response from police officers. They quickly cordoned off the area.
It was learnt that the body of the commercial driver is now at the mortuary. An autopsy will be carried out.
The residents who got to the crime scene early suggest the victim was shot at close range. Suspected armed robbers attempted to steal his car or other personal valuables.
A senior police officer reacted to the incident. The officer spoke on condition of anonymity at the crime scene. The officer confirmed that a full-scale investigation is underway.
“We are working to gather all necessary intelligence. Forensic teams are already at the scene. We are also liaising with the Bolt company. We aim to retrieve trip data that help in tracking down the culprits,” the source said.
The Police Spokesman in Bayelsa, ASP Musa Mohammed, confirmed the incident and noted that an investigation was already underway.
