Police detain suspect in alleged armed robbery, homicide in Etim Ekpo
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in the investigation of an alleged armed robbery and homicide involving the disappearance and killing of a commercial motorcyclist in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area.
The command recalled that on or about November 11, 2025, at about 11:00 am, it received a report that an unidentified commercial motorcyclist was attacked at Ikot Esop Village, dispossessed of his motorcycle, and subsequently went missing. Following the report, a comprehensive investigation was launched to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
After several months of sustained intelligence gathering and investigation, operatives of the command on Friday, February 6, 2026, around 12:00 noon, arrested one Emmanuel Silas (male) in connection with the alleged offence.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly made useful statements that led police operatives to the crime scene. It was discovered that the victim had been killed and buried in a shallow grave, as allegedly revealed by the suspect. The remains were exhumed, photographed for documentation, and secured for forensic analysis and possible post-mortem examination.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crime, recover the stolen motorcycle, and apprehend other suspected accomplices who are currently at large.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has assured the public that all individuals involved in the crime will be brought to justice. The command also reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state.
