A 29-year-old Islamic teacher, Abdulrahman Bello, has been arrested for allegedly killing a final-year student of the Kwara State College of Education.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, who confirmed the incident on Sunday, said the suspect was arrested on Saturday for allegedly killing one Yetunde Lawal.

Investigation revealed that the victim had gone missing after attending a naming ceremony where she left to visit Bello, whom she initially met on Facebook.

Adetoun said, “The complaint for a missing person was made on 11/02/2025 at about 1800 hours, to C Division, Oja-Oba, by her father, Ibrahim A. Lawal.

“Police detectives began tracking her number and arrested the suspect. Exhibits were recovered and the case was transferred yesterday to the SCID for discreet investigations.”

Bello was said to have connected with 25-year-old Lawal on Facebook and invited her to his house through a phone call on February 10, 2025.

When asked about the whereabouts of the missing person, he denied knowledge of Yetunde’s whereabouts but later confessed after police searched his house where they saw the remains of Yetunde’s dismembered body parts in a bowl.

He claimed he killed and dismembered Lawal at a location in Ganmo, on the outskirts of Ilorin.

Probing further, he claimed that Yetunde died in his house when she had an asthma attack.
