Peseiro sad over Nigeria 1-1 draw with Lesotho

The Super Eagles Coach, Jose Peseiro has said that he was not happy with the 1-1 draw of his team with Crocodiles of Lesotho in their first encounter for the 2026 World Cup Qualifying competition.

Speaking with newsmen during the post match briefing at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium,  Peseiro said the team played well but were unable to utilised their scoring chances, especially in the first half.

“I’m not happy today with outcome of the match. We dominated the game but unfortunately we drew.

“They were lucky, we missed so many scoring chances. The draw is not good for us, no one is happy but we hope to win the next match,” Peseiro said.

In his post match briefing, the Head Coach of Crocodiles of Lesotho, Leslie Notsi, said that they had expected very tough match with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Notsi said playing a draw was good for his team came with respect for super eagles of Nigeria because of their standing.

The coach added that playing a draw with Nigeria has given the team enough confidence to move to the next match.

“We came knowing that is going to be a very tough match, so played our strength out to make sure we score before the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

“Coming to Nigeria and get a draw will give us more confidence. We will be progressing gradually before we can talk of qualification,” Notsi said.

Super Eagles and Crocodiles played goalless in the first 45 minutes while the second half witnessed the crocodiles of Lesotho opening score at the 57 minutes of play and the super eagles equalised through Semi Ajayi at the 67 minutes of play.
