Alakuko area of Lagos State have been thrown into confusion following the unrelenting clashes between rival cults in the area.

It was learnt that many people were killed, some inflicted with life-threatening injuries, and property worth millions of naira were destroyed in the latest clash which started on Saturday.

Sources who are among the residents say the Alakuko/Dalemo areas have been a theatre of war for the past three days.

On Monday normalcy has yet to return as sources, who preferred to be anonymous said the police are not able to contain the Alakuko crisis, which centres around Alakuko, Dalemo, and Lamina Ganiu areas.

Residents have been calling out the police on social media seeking urgent intervention, with messages like “Pls follow up on this so we can give update.”

It was gathered that a government source seems not to have the details of the crisis for now.

In a swift reply to the source, a resident of the area, (names withheld) said of the situation, “You are eight baba, (right baba) italic ours, we can’t go out now. I live at Dalemo here. I learned the rival group has killed second in command to Confidence, the leader of Eye cult group at Dalemo.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Hakeem Odumosu has mobilised additional men to Alakuko and the affected areas.

Adejobi stated that the police arrested some gangsters in connection with the arrest.

He said: We have effected some arrests. I will make the command’s position on this known soon.

“The CP has called a meeting with all the area commanders and commanders of MOPOL across the state. We are restrategising.”
