Oyebanji re-elected Ekiti Governor in landslide

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been re-elected as governor of Ekiti State after securing a commanding victory in the 2026 governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Oyebanji the winner after he polled 319,224 votes, defeating his closest challengers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been re-elected as governor of Ekiti State after securing a commanding victory in the 2026 governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Oyebanji the winner after he polled 319,224 votes, defeating his closest challengers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to the results announced by INEC, the PDP candidate received 40,543 votes, while the ADC candidate polled 12,872 votes.

Oyebanji won in all 16 local government areas of the state, recording particularly strong performances in Ado-Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ekiti West, Ikole and Ijero local government areas.

In Ado-Ekiti Local Government Area, he secured 38,026 votes. He also polled 29,278 votes in Irepodun/Ifelodun, 28,258 in Ekiti West, 26,508 in Ikole and 25,506 in Ijero.

The PDP recorded its strongest performance in Ikere Local Government Area, where it polled 9,892 votes against the APC’s 11,116 votes.

INEC stated that 384,940 voters were accredited for the election, while the total number of valid votes cast stood at 375,777.

The commission added that 6,332 votes were rejected, bringing the total number of votes cast to 382,109.

The result confirms Oyebanji’s re-election and secures him a second term as governor of Ekiti State.
