The Vice President of Ogboinbiri Federated Youths, Comrade Job Tarilayefa Alpheaus, has issued a strong statement alongside other executive members, addressing the ongoing crisis in the Ogboinbiri community of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
In the statement, the youth leadership commended the Bayelsa State Government, particularly Governor Douye Diri, Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, and Southern Ijaw Local Government Chairman, Mr Target Isaiah Segibo, for their proactive roles in managing the situation and working to restore peace.
The group, however, criticised the Youth President, Mr Experience Pere, accusing him of disregarding the community’s constitution and allowing himself to be influenced by individuals allegedly plotting to destabilise Ogboinbiri.
They clarified that, according to the current constitution—different from the previous version—the youth body no longer holds the authority to appoint the community task force, a function they said Mr Pere had wrongfully assumed.
The statement reaffirmed the commitment of the Ogboinbiri Federated Youths to peace, unity, and adherence to due process in resolving internal disputes.
Also, the Vice President accused the Youth President of appointing individuals with questionable backgrounds, including convicted cultists and drug offenders, to the task force. One such member was recently detained by Nigerian Police and transferred to authorities in Yenagoa for investigation related to illicit drug activities.
Reaffirming their commitment to law and order, the Ogboinbiri Federated Youths’ executive council pledged to support efforts to restore peace and development in the area.
They condemned any form of insult or ridicule toward established local authorities, urging unity for the progress of Ogboinbiri.
“Ogboinbiri must be better,” the statement stated.
The executive council signing the statement includes: Comr. Job Tarilayefa Alpheaus, Vice President, Comr. Ikeinka Wariayibapre Genesis, Secretary General, Comr. Timi Moses, Assistant Secretary and Comr. Pere Ayiba-Esin Nicole, Treasurer
The federated youth body calls on all stakeholders to remain committed to peace and collaborative development.
