Oborevwori’s record gives APC strong 2027 campaign message
The achievements of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori will be the All Progressives Congress’ strongest selling point as the party seeks his re-election in 2027, the governor’s Executive Assistant on Public Enlightenment (Projects and Policies), Olisa Ifeajika, has said.
Ifeajika made the assertion on Friday while appearing on Politics HQ on News Central Television, saying his support for Oborevwori was based on the governor’s performance rather than their membership of the same political party.

The achievements of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori will be the All Progressives Congress’ strongest selling point as the party seeks his re-election in 2027, the governor’s Executive Assistant on Public Enlightenment (Projects and Policies), Olisa Ifeajika, has said.
Ifeajika made the assertion on Friday while appearing on Politics HQ on News Central Television, saying his support for Oborevwori was based on the governor’s performance rather than their membership of the same political party.
He said the administration’s projects and policies had given the governor a strong record to present to voters ahead of the election.
“The governor of this state, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is my project in the forthcoming general elections because we want to return him as our governor, not just because he is our party man, but because of the work he is doing in Delta,” Ifeajika said.
He also explained Oborevwori’s recent declaration that his political project was to secure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, saying the two political objectives were not contradictory.
According to him, Oborevwori’s support for Tinubu was expected because both politicians belong to the APC.
“He is an APC man, so he will talk about the President of Nigeria, who is of the same party with him, being re-elected. That was what he meant when he said his project is to ensure that Bola Tinubu is re-elected as President of Nigeria,” he said.
Ifeajika said the APC would rely largely on the governor’s performance and effective communication of his administration’s projects and policies to win the support of Delta voters.
“The performance of our governor speaks for itself. Everybody is applauding what the man is doing in the state,” he said.
He described Oborevwori as “a good product that is selling itself”, arguing that the governor’s appeal extended beyond party politics.
Turning to the Federal Government’s economic policies, Ifeajika defended the removal of fuel subsidy, saying the policy was necessary to end what he described as an unsustainable practice of financing subsidy payments with borrowed funds.
He acknowledged that the policy had contributed to economic hardship but argued that reforms should be viewed as a process whose benefits would take time to become fully evident.
Using farming as an analogy, he said Nigerians had to endure the difficult stages of clearing, planting and weeding before harvesting.
Ifeajika said the additional funds available to states following the subsidy removal had strengthened their ability to meet obligations to workers and pensioners.
He argued that the situation in which some states struggled to pay salaries and pensions had improved, although he acknowledged that Nigerians were still facing significant economic pressures.
“The issue is how the states are deploying the funds available to them to make sure that the people at the lower rungs of the society feel the impact,” he said.
He urged state governments to ensure that increased revenues translated into better living conditions for ordinary citizens, particularly vulnerable households.
On the 2027 elections, Ifeajika said the APC in Delta would focus on the governor’s record and communicate the administration’s projects and policies effectively to the electorate.
He expressed confidence that presenting Oborevwori’s achievements to voters would strengthen the party’s chances of retaining the governorship.
