Obi mourns LP Kaduna chieftain
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Tuesday, mourned one of the party’s zonal chairmen in Kaduna State, Lawal Garba.
Garba was said to have lost his life in a fatal auto crash along the Kaduna-Zaria Road on his way back from the party’s meeting with Northern stakeholders in Arewa House, Kaduna, on Monday.
In a series of tweets on Tuesday, Obi mourned Garba, and expressed shock over the chieftain’s demise.
“I’m shocked by the news of the sudden and tragic death of Mallam Lawal Garba last night in a fatal vehicular accident. Mallam Garba was in attendance at the Arewa House interactive session.
“His death is a huge loss to his family, the Labour Party family in Kaduna State, and the Kaduna people.
“I pray for the peaceful repose of his soul and that God Almighty will grant his family the fortitude to bear this huge loss,” Obi said.
Obi, and his running mate, Baba-Ahmed Datti, alongside other party members, arrived in the state on Monday to meet with the Arewa Joint Committee.
During his visit to the state, Obi and Datti also paid a courtesy visit to controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.
