NSCDC nab woman for allegedly stealing goats in Osun
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a woman, Suliat Adetola, on suspicion of stealing goats in Ilobu, Osun State.
Osun State NSCDC Public Relations Officer Daniel Adigun said Adetola was arrested on Thursday, November 11, 2021, in the morning.
Adigun said the suspect, a mother of three, who was caught with a stolen goat, noted that she had seized the goats and cassava shells.
He said the suspect hailed from the Konda area of Ilobu, adding that most of the villagers believed she had bought the stolen goats from their owners.
An NSCDC spokesman added that Adetola was arrested by an Oke-Ayepe resident, who challenged her when she went with a stolen black goat.
Adigun added that the suspect pleaded guilty to kidnapping the goat and was almost killed by residents, adding that NSCDC officials in the area had thwarted the action.
He said: “She was arrested while trying to drive a black goat out of the community.
“She pretended to buy it from the landlord but when the locals insisted that she go with them to the landlord, she finally agreed to kidnap him.
“I have a special way of catching animals. I usually carry dried cassava shells in a plastic basket so when I check I don’t see anyone, I save the basket. Goats find it interesting and while feeding it I catch them and tie them.
“Anyone I met on the road would think I bought it from the owner,” an NSCDC spokesman said.
He added that the accused would be arraigned in court soon after the completion of the investigation.
