NSCDC commandant assumes duty in A’Ibom, harps on personnel dedication to duty

Mr Bashar Hussaini, has assumed duty as the 16th State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Akwa Ibom State Command.

Hussaini urged officers and men of the command to rededicate themselves to deliver on the mandates of the corps by showing commitment to duty.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the Command Public Relations Officer, Mr Friday Ekerete,  in Uyo on Tuesday.

Ekerete in the statement said that Hussaini, took over from Commandant, Eluyemi Eluwade, who has been redeployed to NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja.

He added that the new state Commandant has worked in different NSCDC command across the country, before being posted to Akwa Ibom.

He said that Hussaini holds a Master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

“His service began in 1990 as a member of Cadet Officer Course 1 of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), where he served for almost two decades before transferring his services to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in 2009.

“The new State Commandant brings an extensive experience in undercover operations, counter-terrorism, intelligence and investigations.

“He will be responsible for leading the NSCDC in Akwa Ibom in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, amongst other mandates of the Corps,” Ekerete said.

Ekerete said the commandant, after taking over briefed officers of the command, and solicited their support to actualise the mandate of the Corps as enshrined in the NSCDC Act 2003 and 2007 as amended.

He said the commandant commended his predecessor for his valuable contributions and service to the growth of the command and pledged to bring fresh ideas to actualising the mandates of the corps.

He said the new state commandant has promised to collaborate with the State Government and other sister security agencies in the State to protect government critical infrastructure.

He said the commandant also solicited the support and cooperation of Akwa Ibom people by providing the command with useful information concerning crimes and criminalities for prompt action.
