NSCDC busts Kano drug ring, arrests four suspects
Operatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have dismantled a localised illicit drug operation in Kano State, apprehending four suspects in Gaida, Kumbotso Local Government Area.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers attached to the Counter Terrorism Unit in Dorayi Babba executed a targeted covert operation that led to the arrests. The command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed the details in a statement released on Monday.

The suspects, identified as Abubakar Abdullahi (35), Rabiu Baffa (25), Aminu Lawan (35), and Ibrahim Idris (33), are all residents of the Gaida community.
During the raid, officers seized a substantial quantity of controlled substances and narcotics, including: Four sachets of Pregabalin 300mg capsules (commonly referred to as “PG”); Dozens of Diazepam tablets (locally known as “Fara”); three tubes of Oshin Solution (“Sholisho”); and three large packs and 20 individual parcels of suspected cannabis.
Kano State Commandant, Mohammed Agalama, issued a sharp warning regarding the rising trade in illicit substances, noting that substance abuse poses a direct threat to public safety and youth development across the region.
Following a preliminary assessment by the corps, both the suspects and the confiscated exhibits will be transferred to the Kano Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
Agalama reiterated the corps’ commitment to multi-agency collaboration and urged members of the public to report suspicious drug activity, guaranteeing full confidentiality for informants.
