NPTF donates N11bn worth of vehicles, others to Nigeria Police Force

The Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) has donated N11 billion worth of operational vehicles, security, and medical equipment to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

The Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, announced the donation during an inspection of the vehicles and equipment at the Force Headquarters on Friday.

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba as well as the Executive Secretary, Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, was at the Force Headquarters to inspect the consignment.

Others at the event were present at the Force Headquarters were the Governor of Zamfara and that of Kebbi State, Bello Mutawalle and Atiku Bagudu.

It was learnt that about 120 out the 200 Buffalo vans procured by the NPTF were inspected by the government officials.

Speaking at the inspection, Ahmed Sokoto added that the NPTF has so far taken delivery of police operational vehicles, security and medical equipment amounting to N8 billion naira as part of the N11 billion equipment already purchased.

“The 200 buffalo vans cost NPTF over N7 billion naira. So far, NPTF has received 120 out of the 200 vehicles procured, the remaining vehicles will be delivered sooner than later.

“The vehicles are well equipped and rebranded; however, some others are still undergoing rebranding to reflect NPTF colours and logo,” he said.

Meanwhile, other things that were inspected were 190 Ballistic Helmets and 640 pieces of Bullet proof vests procured by the Fund under the 2020 intervention.

Sokoto added that the 640 pieces of bullet proof vests and the 190 helmets cost the NPTF over N435 million.
