Nollywood mourns Olu Jacobs, veteran actor dies at 84

Nollywood has been plunged into mourning following the death of veteran actor and film executive, Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, at 84.
Jacobs died on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, according to a statement by his son, Olusoji Jacobs, who announced the death on Instagram.
The family described the acclaimed actor as “The Lion of Lufodo” and announced his passing with a call for privacy as it comes to terms with the loss.
“It is with gratitude to God for a life well lived and fought that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and uncle. The Lion of Lufodo,” the family said.
