Social media have been awash with condemnations over the listing of former Miss World, Agbani Darego as the ugliest person ever to win the Miss World pageant in a Google search result.
Nigerians on social media have expressed outrage over the result and asked Google to expunge such search result immediately.
Darego, 37, was the first indigenous African to win the competition which was held in South Africa in 2001.
The Rivers State indigene had earlier won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) pageant and made it to the top 10 of Miss Universe.
On Friday, Twitter user @oluremi_x posted a Google search result that showed Darego as ugliest-ever Miss World.
Expectedly, that did not go down well with Nigerians, who quickly rejected the tag.
A twitter user, Grow Queen@oluremi_x , says: “I find it interesting that the results to ‘Who is the most beautiful Miss World” on Google shows links to various rankings.
But “Who is the most ugly Miss World” gives you Agbani Daregbo’s profile.”
Instablog9ja @instablog9a, says: This is the most saddening part of this Agbani Darego story. But why?
Femi Fani-Kayode @realFFK, twitter reads: “The assertion that Agbani Darego is the ‘ugliest Miss World ever’ is false. It is also deeply insulting to Nigeria, Africa & all people of color& it is utterly racist.
“Agbani remains of the most beautiful women in the world& I am proud of the fact that she is a Nigeria.
Brume @sophiee_ob, says: Unpopular opinion: Agbani Darego is the most beautiful Miss World ever.”
Ebuka Ahmaba @AhambaEbuka, says: “Google names Agbani Darego the ugliest miss world ever… I want to ask them if it’s the one from Nigeria abi is there another one. These guys can be stylishly racist at times… How did she win it in the first place if she’s ugly?” among others.
