Navy offers free medical services to A’Ibom community

The Nigerian Navy, NNS Jubilee, Ikot Abasi has conducted free medical outreach to Ikot Ekpene Udo community in Nsit Ubium in Akwa Ibom State as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the people.
Gov Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, who flagged off the navy’s free medical outreach for the people of the Ikot Ekpene Udo community on Saturday, expressed delight at the gesture of the Nigerian Navy to the civilian populace.
Eno said that the free medical outreach at this time would reduce the health burden on the people of Ikot Ekpene Udo community, as they will make good use of the opportunity.
“I thank the Nigerian Navy for having this village in mind. I am grateful for this gesture to the civilian populace.
“I am happy because you’re coming directly to my community and that shows that while I am busy for the state, some people are thinking about my people back home.
“I thank the Chief of Naval Staff for the show of love. We will continue to strengthen our bundle of friendship and maintain the cordial relationship we have had so far,” Eno said.
Eno urged the people to troop out to the centre and be examined for different ailments to receive proper medication for the benefit of their bodies.
Earlier, the Commander, NNS Jubilee, Commodore Madumom Ide, said that the Navy has continuously executed programmes and projects every quarter in different communities as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The commander said that all the beneficiaries will be tested and equally receive treatment for malaria, typhoid, HIV, and high blood pressure, and people with eye impairment will be given free eyeglasses.
Ide said that Ikot Ekpene Udo was selected for this quarter to benefit from the NNS Jubilee free medical outreach as the yuletide season was fast approaching.
“For this quarter we selected Ikot Ekpene Udo for a medical outreach. So, we are delivering free health services today,” Ide said.
Speaking to one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Enoobong Effiong commended the Nigerian Navy for bringing medical outreach to her community.
Effiong said that she has been tested for malaria and typhoid and that medicines were given to her free for treatment.
Another beneficiary, Mr Udofia Joshua, said that he was tested for HIV and the result was negative as well as diabetes.
Joshua said that he was so happy about the gesture by the Nigerian Navy because the medical treatment would impact positively on the health of people in the community.
