Minimum wage: A’Ibom govt to pay workers N80,000 monthly

The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced a minimum wage of N80,000 for its employees.
Commissioner of Information, Mr Ini Ememobong stated that the N80,000 minimum wage announcement is a reflection that the government is committed to the welfare of workers.
In a press statement signed on Wednesday in Uyo, Ememobong explained that Governor Umo Eno has instituted an implementation committee to ensure the smooth operation of the policy.
“The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced that the State Government will pay a new minimum wage of N80,000 for all state government employees.
“To ensure a smooth rollout of this policy, the governor has also constituted an implementation committee, which has been given one month to deliver its report on how the wage increase will be executed,” he stated.
The 15-member committee chaired by the Head of the Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, is made up of the State leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress, and Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) among others.
