Mbah appoints Anunobi, Okonkwo as Enugu aides

Nollywood stars Eucharia Anunobi and Rachael Okonkwo have joined the Enugu State Government after Governor Peter Mbah appointed them as aides.

Their appointments were contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, as part of the governor’s appointment of 101 aides.

The appointments cover seven Special Advisers, six Senior Special Assistants and 88 Special Assistants.

Okonkwo, popularly known as Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Film and Creative Industry Development.

The actress, whose full name is Nnenna Rachael Okonkwo, hails from Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State and is best known for her role in the Nkoli Nwa Nsukka film series.

Her new role places her at the centre of the state’s efforts in the film and creative sector.

Anunobi, a veteran Nollywood actress, was appointed Special Assistant on Women Mobilisation for the Enugu North Zone.

She rose to prominence in Nollywood in the 1990s and has appeared in more than 90 films. She later became an evangelist.

The appointments bring the two actresses into the state’s political and administrative structure, with Okonkwo assigned to the creative industry and Anunobi to women mobilisation in Enugu North.
