Man arraigned for allegedly biting off woman’s ear
A 48-year-old man, Mark Onuoha, has been arraigned in an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, for allegedly biting off a housewife’s ear.
Onuoha, whose address was not given, was charged with assault and grievous bodily harm.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the crime.
The prosecutor, Insp Christian Okonofua, said the defendant committed the offence on August 31 around Itowolo, Ikorodu.
Okonofua added that the defendant assaulted one Mrs Rebecca Amosun by beating her up and biting off her left ear.
He said that the offences contravene Sections 245 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which specifies one-year jail term for the assault.
The Magistrate, Mrs T. A. Shotobi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N25,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Shotobi adjourned the proceedings until September 13 for mention.
