LASTMA impounds 100 private, public vehicles on Lagos bridges
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has impounded over 100 private/commercial vehicles operating illegal parking/garages on top of bridges across the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Transportation Hon. Sola Giwa who led the enforcement on Wednesday said the exercise was carried out following the expiration of seven-day ‘Vacation Order’ issued to motorists to vacate all illegal parking/garages on top of bridges.
Giwa added that the Wednesday enforcement operations were aimed at totally removing every infraction impeding the free flow of traffic on bridges.
He confirmed that over 100 vehicles were seized at Ejalonibu, Obalende, Apongbon Ebute-Ero, and Idumota (Cater) bridges on Lagos Island.
Giwa said, “The enforcement would be a continuous exercise until we have zero activities of these commercial bus drivers operating illegal parking/garages on top of bridges.
“We would continue to ensure free flow of traffic movement by scaling up our enforcement and clampdown operations on these stubborn private/commercial bus drivers.”
He added that the vehicles would be to the Lagos State Mobile Court for prosecution.
