The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has rewarded one of its commuters with N5000 top-up for her loyalty.

Speaking at the Ikorodu bus terminal, Mr Charles Ojo, Managing Director of Iworld Transit Solutions Limited, said the reward was a part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to commuters.

“We shortlisted names of people based on a number of times the cowry card is used on our buses.

“We did the assessment for a month before we finally select a winner for N5000 top-up.

“We will be consistent on this gesture for people to embrace our transport system in Lagos,” Ojo said.

According to Ojo, Lamata came up with bus transport reform to harmonise the transportation business in Lagos State as it has been done in Europe.

Ojo, who was represented by Mrs Enitan Aina, said part of the plans was to provide seamless transportation solutions, ticketing solutions and provision of cowry cards to facilitate transportation systems including the waterways.

“LAMATA came up with bus reform operation to harmonise transportation business in Lagos State; part of our plans is to be able to use one cowry card for all transport systems including waterways,” he said.

Also speaking, Head of operations, Iworld Solutions, Mr Adewale Fayemi, said the idea was to increase the number of people to embrace the use of e-ticket operations in the transportation sector.

The winner of the N5000 top-up, Mrs Aramide Ajetunmobi, urged residents to embrace the use of cowry cards as tickets for Bus Rapid Transit in Lagos.

Ajetunmobi added that the process would reduce the risk of carrying cash and time spent on queue.

She said: “The cowry card has really helped me a lot; I usually load one week on my card to avoid the queue.”
