Lagos LG inaugurates council executives, urges them on responsibilities

The chairman of Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State, Mr Wasiu Adesina has urged the newly inaugurated council executives to take full charge of their respective departments and be accountable to the electorates.
Adesina gave the charge during the inauguration of the council’s secretary, supervisory councillors and special advisers on Wednesday in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The chairman urged the new executives to see their appointments as opportunities to exhibit leadership qualities for greater prospects ahead.
He said: “Today, secretary, supervisors and special advisers will take their responsibilities and assignment of the different departments to have a smooth running of the administration.
“I wish to implore you all to be good ambassadors of this great local government and be fully committed to discharging your duties.
“It is important to remind you that it is your duty to be responsive and responsible to the yearnings of our citizens while adopting a gradual but progressive approach.
“In the area of infrastructural development, regular environmental sanitation, maintenance of peace and harmony, provision of adequate security of lives and property and revenue generation, among others,” he said.
Adesina said that the administration which commenced eight months ago had embarked on solid projects like the construction of two sides drainages and the surfacing of the road at Sabo gate market.
He said that the council had also provided solar street lights at Ikorodu cemetery, and hosted Spelling Bee Competition which gave the local government edge over competitors.
“We have produced the winner of the Spelling Bee Competition from Oriwu College who was made One-Day Governor of Lagos State, we need to maintain the height,” he said.
He said the council had also distributed 200 customized school bags and 1000 copies of exercise books to schools under Ikorodu LG, Youth empowerment and construction of five classrooms at Salvation Army Primary School, among others.
Adesina commended the legislative arm of the council under the leadership of Mr Adebowale Ajayi for fast-tracking and ensuring a decisive screening and confirmation process.
He said his administration was founded on the values of accessible leadership, innovation and teamwork, adding that with the support of new executive members, Ikorodu would be taken to a greater height.
Adesina announced the appointment of Alhaja Rashidat Bello as Senior Special Assistant to the Chairman on Women Affairs due to her experience and wealth of knowledge.
He also announced the appointment of his former personal assistant, Mr Oluwatosin Mabunmi, as the new Chief of Staff, while the revenue committee was to be led by Mr Zacheous Oretoye.
reports that the new executives that took the oath of office also included Mrs Lateef Afinni, the Secretary of the council.
The seven new supervisory councillors were Mr Murisiku, Shiru Showemimo, Lateef Oyefusi, Showemimo Abioye, Alejo Musbau, Rotinwa Musbau and Yakub Ajalogun.
The new Special Advisers are Mrs Olaide Adebiyi-Bolanle, Mr Oluseyi Fadeyi and Waheed Animashaun.
Those that were at the inauguration are Mr Babatunde Rotinwa, a former Head of Service (HOS) Lagos State, Mr Gafar Bolowotan, Director-General, Lagos State Sports Commission, and Mrs Wonuola Oshinowo, Woman Leader, APC East Senatorial District.
Others are Alhaja Taofikat, the Iyaloja of Ikorodu, the Divisional Police Officer, Igbogbo Division, CSP Remi Balogun and officials of the council.
