The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has set an initial deposit of ₦5m for intending pilgrims participating in the 2027 Hajj.

A statement issued on Sunday by the board’s Press Secretary, Jimoh Jumoke, Executive Secretary Abdulsalam Abdulkadir confirmed that preparations for the 2027 pilgrimage have officially commenced.

Prospective pilgrims must submit valid international passports alongside their initial deposit, with the remaining balance due by the end of November 2026 once final fares are determined.

On guidelines and information for pilgrims, the statement noted that payment could only be made strictly through the board’s designated banking channels.

Intending pilgrims are also advised to renew any passports expiring before April 2027 to avoid processing delays.

Intending pilgrims have also been advised to streamline airlift operations, as improvements to the arrangements have raised aircraft capacity from 260 to about 560 passengers per flight. The upgrade is expected to cut the number of required trips from 15 to four, making travel to Saudi Arabia faster and more efficient.
