Kane named Germany’s player of the year
Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has been voted Germany’s 2026 Player of the Year by the country’s sports journalists’ association.
The England captain topped the poll ahead of teammate Michael Olise after a prolific season in which he fired Bayern to the Bundesliga title and German Cup, while also reaching the Champions League semi‑finals.

The England captain topped the poll ahead of teammate Michael Olise after a prolific season in which he fired Bayern to the Bundesliga title and German Cup, while also reaching the Champions League semi‑finals.
Kane, 33, scored 61 goals in all competitions for Bayern and added six more for England at the World Cup, where they reached the semi‑finals before losing to Argentina.
Bayern manager Vincent Kompany was named Coach of the Year, while women’s captain Giulia Gwinn took the award for best female player.
Kane is the first Englishman to win the German honour and is now among the favourites for the Ballon d’Or, to be awarded in London this October.
