Ijaw women back new IYC President Okotete
Ijaw Women Connect Worldwide (IWC) has congratulated Comrade (Dr.) Doubra Collins Okotete on his inauguration as the 10th President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, pledging its full support for his administration.
The group also congratulated members of the newly inaugurated IYC executive, describing their emergence as the beginning of a new chapter for the foremost Ijaw youth organisation.

The group also congratulated members of the newly inaugurated IYC executive, describing their emergence as the beginning of a new chapter for the foremost Ijaw youth organisation.
In a statement on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, the Founder and Pioneer President of Ijaw Women Connect Worldwide, Comrade Princess Mrs Rosemary John-Oduone, described Okotete’s emergence as a reward for his character, competence and unwavering commitment to the Ijaw cause.
She added that his leadership experience and years of dedicated service within the council had equipped him to unite members and strengthen the organisation.
John-Oduone expressed confidence that the new administration would promote unity, strategic engagement and effective advocacy for the interests of the Ijaw people.
She also pledged the support, prayers and collaboration of Ijaw women to ensure the success of the new leadership.
The group urged the new executive to prioritise youth welfare, community development and the preservation of the Ijaw cultural heritage.
IWC further prayed for divine wisdom, strength and guidance for Okotete as he leads the council, expressing optimism that his tenure would take the IYC to greater heights.
