Gunmen attack Anambra police checkpoint
Gunmen, on Tuesday, attacked a police checkpoint in Anambra State.
The attack was said to have caused pandemonium in the area as some persons were feared killed or injured in the attack.
The attack happened at about 10.30 am between the Ihiala-Uli axis in Ihiala local government area.
Drivers and commuters ran for safety as the gunmen shot non-stop.
It was gathered that all the security operatives removed their uniforms and took cover in nearby bushes and houses.
The Onitsha- Owerri expressway had been abandoned as of the time of filing this report.
Even commercial bus drivers have paused operations for fear of being killed.
The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu could not be reached for further confirmation.
