Fourth Mainland Bridge: Lagos warns land speculators against building on road alignment

Residents of Lagos State around Bayeku, Ayetoro, Agunfoye, Igbogbo, Elepe, Erunwe, Ishawo up to Ibadan Expressway have been warned not to sell or buy land around the proposed road alignment.

The final design of the Fourth Mainland Bridge is said to have been completed without a building being seen on the alignment.

This was disclosed during the Fourth Mainland Bridge project stakeholders meeting on Wednesday at Igbogbo Bayeku area of Ikorodu in Lagos State.

According to them, the bridge will take its landing at Bayeku and run through Ayetoro, Agunfoye, Igbogbo and come out at Elepe back to Erunwe, Ishawo to Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

They said the project engineer intimated that no house(s) will be demolished as the road will run on the canal.

One of the attendees, who described himself as Mr Adeneyi, warned Omo onile against selling land near the road alignment, noting that any building erected along the right of way will not be compensated as the final design has been drawn.

“The final design has been concluded without any building conspicuously sighted on the alignment.

“Land speculators are equally warned not to start buying land close to the proposed road alignment because the design can be varied during execution.

“The construction will take three years and is going to be tolled with high-tech technology equipment better than what is obtainable at Lekki toll gate plaza.

“The project will automatically generate employment for professionals and artisans.

“The road is going to be given to a contractor that will look for fund and execute it; they are not likely to delay because they will want their money recouped on time,” he said.

The Commissioner for Works, Lagos State, Mrs Aramide Adeyoye, confirmed the report.

She stated that any house that is not in the road alignment will be destroyed.

“No single house that is not in the alignment will go,” she said.
