A former Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State, Mr Wasiu Adesina, has reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots development with the donation of a solar-powered borehole to the Muleruwa family in Ikorodu.

Adesina, who donated during a brief ceremony in the community, said the project was a personal gesture of appreciation to a place that shaped his upbringing and political journey.

“This is my own way of giving back to my people because this community produced me,” he said. “While in office, my administration focused on road construction, drainage development and other people-centred projects.”

The former council chairman noted that borehole facilities had been provided in several wards across Ikorodu Central during his tenure, but said he considered it important to also extend the benefit to his family compound. He stressed that access to clean and safe water remains critical to public health and sustainable community development.

In his remarks, the Chief Imam of Oriwu Mosque, Sheikh Yahaya Oshoala, commended Adesina for remaining connected to his roots and supporting his family and community. Oshoala, who is also the President of the Asamadani Islamic Movement, urged him to sustain his philanthropic efforts and offered prayers for wisdom and guidance in his future endeavours.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr Akeem Oduwole expressed appreciation for the donation, describing it as timely and impactful. He prayed for continued progress in Adesina’s political and personal life and urged beneficiaries to ensure proper maintenance of the facility.

Similarly, a resident, Ms Taiwo Adeola, said the borehole would significantly reduce water scarcity in the area and improve living conditions. She noted that Adesina’s intervention reflected a leadership style focused on providing essential services that directly impact residents.

The CitizenDiary reports that the family and community later presented an award to Adesina in recognition of his philanthropic contributions.
