The Director of Media of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) in Bayelsa State, Udengs Eradiri, has praised Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Eradiri urged other All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and party leaders, particularly in the North, to intensify grassroots mobilisation, insisting that Tinubu needed a second term to consolidate his economic reforms.

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Thursday, the former president of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) Worldwide commended Tompolo’s door-to-door campaign and Wike’s town hall meetings and stakeholder engagements under the Rainbow Coalition.

Eradiri, a former Bayelsa State commissioner for youth and environment, described Tompolo’s early mobilisation efforts as evidence of his commitment to Tinubu’s re-election.

He said Tompolo had continued to commit personal resources to the campaign in recognition of what he considered the president’s contributions to Nigeria and the Niger Delta.

“The Bayelsa State chapter of the Tinubu Support Group commends and appreciates Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, for the consistent door-to-door campaign he is conducting to mobilise support for Mr President, not only in the Niger Delta but also across the country,” he said.

Eradiri added that Tompolo was engaging political stakeholders beyond public campaigns, using private consultations to explain the administration’s policies and persuade influential figures to support Tinubu.

He also praised APC governors and political leaders reportedly mobilising support in Kaduna, Katsina, Imo and Rivers states, saying their activities demonstrated the importance of early preparations for the 2027 general election.

The TSG director singled out Wike for his sustained engagements with political stakeholders in Rivers State and Abuja, saying the minister had made considerable efforts to unite different political interests behind Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“We acknowledge the commitment of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who has maintained a busy schedule of town hall meetings and stakeholder engagements in Rivers and Abuja through his Rainbow Coalition,” Eradiri said.

He urged other APC leaders to follow their example, warning that the party could not afford complacency if it hoped to retain power in 2027.

According to him, victory would depend on careful planning, sustained engagement with voters and the active participation of party members.

“We don’t believe in luck; we believe that any man who works hard, the benefits of success will gravitate towards him,” he said.

Eradiri also challenged opposition parties to begin their preparations early, arguing that they should not wait until after the election to allege rigging if they failed to match the APC’s organisational efforts.

“The APC structures are planning and working hard to win the election, crossing the Ts and dotting the Is. The results will surely show in the election, and don’t complain if you fail to match the hard work demonstrated by the APC,” he said.

Beyond campaign organisation, Eradiri urged the party to explain Tinubu’s economic reforms more effectively to Nigerians struggling with their immediate effects.

He argued that changing an established economic system could cause short-term hardship but maintained that the reforms were intended to reposition the country for long-term prosperity.

“We need to tell those who are not happy with the reforms that the steps taken by Mr President are patriotic and geared towards repositioning the country for prosperity,” he said.

Eradiri maintained that four years would not be sufficient for the reforms to deliver their full benefits, arguing that a second term would give Tinubu more time to consolidate his policies.

“We have always believed that four years is not enough for true change and impact in a society. To consolidate these reforms, the president surely needs a second term of four years to make it eight years,” he said.

He also called on northern political leaders to support Tinubu’s re-election, linking the appeal to Nigeria’s power-rotation arrangement between the North and South.

According to Eradiri, a second term for Tinubu would allow his reforms to mature before younger northern politicians take over the country’s leadership and continue the development agenda.

“That is what we should be working for, so that the younger politicians in the North will take over after President Tinubu and continue on the trajectory,” he said.
