Ekanola becomes UI Acting Vice-Chancellor

The Senate of the University of Ibadan has made Professor Adebola Babatunde Ekanola the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
Ekanola, who succeeds Professor Idowu Olayinka, whose tenured ends on November 30, 2020, secured 275 votes to beat four other strong contenders for the post.
Until his appointment on Monday, Ekanola was a Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics of the university.
The four other contenders with their votes are Professors Olanike Adeyemo, 13 votes; Professor A. Oluleye, 80 votes; Professor Adigun Agbaje, 15 votes, and Professor Gbemisola Oke, 14 votes. After the selection of a new VC for the university was enmeshed in crisis, the process was cancelled, and another was ordered by the NUC.
